Paulownia / 桐/ きり
In Japan, Paulownia wood is traditionally used for a number of things including high-end cabinets and chests, and 'Geta' (Japanese clogs).
I received some samples of paulownia from Paulownia Enterprises in Hamilton.
I've never worked with paulownia before, so it was very exciting to see and feel the timber - it is surprisingly lightweight.
I planed, sanded and applied some finish to see how it looks.
